Car crosses I-49 median, goes under guardrail crashing in front of oncoming traffic

Missouri State Highway Patrol Tpr Joe Drum tells us the car was southbound, and ended up in the northbound lanes

JASPER COUNTY, Mo. – Just after 8 p.m. Saturday evening reports of a single vehicle crash south of Carthage on I-49 near the Cedar Road exit alerted Jasper County E911.

Carthage Fire Dept, Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies and Mercy Carthage responded emergency.

On scene Tpr J. Drum of the Missouri State Highway Patrol tells us a vehicle traveling south on I-49 crossed the median just past the Center Creek bridge, crossed under the guardrail and then crashed in front of oncoming, northbound traffic.  No other vehicles were struck.  It was a single vehicle crash at the 48 MM.

The single occupant was the male driver.  Checked out by Mercy EMS and released on the scene.

The vehicle was totaled. The majority of the damage was to the passenger side.

M&M Wrecker removed the vehicle and debris from the crash scene.

Note correction of information.  In our live video we stated the vehicle went over the guardrail, however Tpr Joe Drum’s investigation revealed the vehicle crossed under the guardrail.
