Britton prepares to fight in front of UFC President Dana White

Joplin's Teejay Britton will fight in front of White in February in Kansas City.

JOPLIN, Mo. – Finding fights has sometimes been a challenge for Joplin’s Teejay Britton.

“As an amateur, I had so many people back out of fights,” Britton says, “As a professional fighter we’ve had at least 20-25 fighters back out. Being 8-2, I should have more fights, but a lot of it is out of my hands. People just didn’t want to fight, so to get this opportunity is a blessing.”

Britton has found his next fight though – and it’s a big opportunity.

He’ll be fighting at FAC 12 in Kansas City in February in front of UFC President Dana White – as part of White’s TV show “Dana White Lookin’ for a Fight.”

“If you’re a cage fighter it’s probably on your dream list to do. Being able to fight in front of him on his television show and for him to personally want to watch you is a pretty big accomplishment,” Britton says, “I’m ready to go in and have some fun and show him what I can do. I’m not just doing it for me, I’m doing it for my family. I’m doing it for my gym, for the people who have sacrificed with me and have been there with me through the thick and thin and have seen the accomplishments and the ups and downs.”

Britton is 7-2 in his pro MMA career. His last two fights have been pro boxing bouts. He’s now 3-0 in his pro boxing career with two knockouts.

His last MMA bout was in March 2021, a knockout win over Sky Moiseichik. Before that, he defeated Gabriel Varga via split decision in February 2021 at Bellator 239.

Britton will fight Isaac Dulgarian (4-0) in the co-main event at FAC 12 in February.

“He’s a stud. He’ll be the best fighter I’ve ever fought, by far,” Britton says of Dulgarian, “He’s a crazy athlete. He’s a very engaged young man with high goals set. Everything he’s probably said, he’s achieved. We both have the same goals. We’ll see what happens that night. I’m just working hard. I’m not cutting any corners. I’ll be ready. I’ll be the best Teejay Britton I can be, and we’ll go out and have some fun.”

If things go well, Britton is hoping to turn this opportunity into another on a future UFC fight card.

“You want to get to as high a level as you can. I believe I belong there. I’ve always said that,” Britton finishes, “We get the opportunity to see what happens and what shakes out.”

The fight is scheduled for February 6th at Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence, Missouri. Click HERE for ticket information.
