Breakfast with the chief
BAXTER SPRINGS, Ks. – In an effort to connect with the citizens it serves and protects, the Baxter Springs Police Department invited the community to breakfast with the chief on Saturday.
Several people took up that offer, meeting Chief Harper at the Rita Event Center.
Over biscuits and gravy, folks were able to meet with other members of the police force as well, getting to know the officers behind the badge.
Chief Harper discussed the possibility of forming a neighborhood watch group in Baxter Springs and hopes to encourage the lines of communication between citizens and law enforcement.
“We are very fortunate to live in a part of the United States where we enjoy support from 99% of our public, and a lot of places don’t enjoy that, so we’re lucky to have that,” said Chief Harper.
This was the first year of Baxter Springs’s Breakfast with the Chief program.
