BRANSON, Mo. – The Missouri Amusement Ride Safety Unit approves the reopening of The Branson Coaster after an 11-year-old boy was seriously injured.

Officials closed the ride on June 20, 2021, after the accident with the Tennessee boy. The Amusement Ride Safety Unit of the Division of Fire Safety is still investigating the accident.

According to the Branson Professional Firefighters Local 152, the boy got trapped beneath the coaster. A helicopter took the child to a hospital in Springfield.

The Safety Unit has determined the ride is currently safe to operate and for public use. The Unit’s final inspection was today, Friday, July 9, 2021. Safety officials conducted several inspections that included operational testing, examination and evaluation of critical components, reviews of operating procedures, and interviews with ride operator staff and witnesses.
