Boy Scout breakfast brings in the big bucks

boy scouts raise money with a breakfast bash

The smell of bacon filled the United Methodist Church in Carthage Sunday morning as the Boy Scouts Troop 9 organization held a breakfast fundraiser.

The Boys Scouts served biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausage, pancakes, and more to the community in between church services. They have held the breakfast fundraiser every year for the past 30 to 40 years.

The fundraiser will help the scouts get to summer camp in New Mexico next year.

“We always go to the summer camps every year and we’re saving up for Philmont Scout Ranch,” said senior patrol leader Brett Backerman.

Camp attendance costs roughly $1000 per scout.
