PITTSBURG, Kan. – Pittsburg State has announced Jeff Boschee will be the school’s next men’s basketball head coach.

Boschee comes to Pittsburg from Missouri Southern, where he spent eight seasons leading the Lions program. Missouri Southern was 151-86 in eight seasons under Boschee (.637). He is the fastest coach to reach 100 wins in MSSU history, and led the Lions to three straight NCAA Division II national tournament appearances from 2018-2020.

He was an assistant coach for the Lions for four years before becoming head coach.

He succeeds Kim Anderson at Pittsburg State, who decided to retire on March 1st.

PITTSBURG — Pittsburg State University Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Jim Johnson announced today (Mar. 9) that Jeff Boschee has been hired as the Gorillas’ new men’s basketball coach.

Boschee served as head coach at MIAA rival Missouri Southern State University the past eight seasons after serving four seasons as an assistant and associate head coach for the Lions. He compiled a 151-86 (.637) overall record.

Boschee directed MSSU to four 20-win seasons and three consecutive trips to the NCAA Division II National Tournament between the 2017-18 and the 2019-20 campaigns. He was selected the 2017-18 MIAA Coach of the Year and his 2018-19 squad reached the NCAA Sweet 16 while posting a 25-8 record. Including four seasons as an assistant, MSSU compiled a 237-118 (.668) record during Boschee’s time on the Lions’ staff.

Boschee becomes the 16th head basketball coach at Pittsburg State University. He replaces former head coach Kim Anderson, who announced his retirement on Mar. 1. Anderson coached the Gorillas for five seasons, from 2017-2022.

“We are very excited to announce Jeff Boschee as our new men’s basketball coach at Pittsburg State University,” Johnson said. “Jeff is one of the top coaches in the MIAA and NCAA Division II and we think under his leadership Gorilla basketball will continue to flourish and grow.

“This is a critical time in recruiting and I know Coach Boschee is eager to hit the ground running in that regard. We will look forward to hosting a public event later in the month to formally introduce Jeff and his family to Gorilla Nation.”
