Bob Brown, 81, of Monett, MO, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday morning, June 2, 2022.

Bob was born on July 10, 1940 in Montezuma, IA, son of the late William Philo Brown and Mabel Elsie (Beck) Brown. Bob graduated from Montezuma High School with the Class of 1958 and then furthered his education at Iowa State University.

In 1959, he began a forty-seven year career with Miracle Recreation in Grinnell, IA, retiring in 2006 from the Monett office. Bob was a servant of the Lord, always faithful as a Christian. Bob was a member of the Ozark Christian Church, where for many years he served as Elder and Treasurer.

A few of his favorite past-times were golfing, wood working, fishing, watching birds, singing and staying physically active, as he still was going to the YMCA almost every day. Beyond spending time with his family, Bob also loved studying the Bible and exercising his spiritual growth.

On July 17, 1960, Bob married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Valeta Ann Abbott. The ceremony was officiated by her father at the Montezuma Christian Church. They were blessed with over sixty-one years of wonderful memories made together as well as three sons born to this union.

Those left to cherish his life are his wife, Valeta Brown, of Monett; his sons, Mark Brown and wife Penny, of Colorado Springs, CO, Steve Brown, of Monticello, IN and Ron Brown and wife Christy, of Monett; seven grandchildren, Tyler Brown, Ashley Brown, Kallen Jones, Riley Brown, Benjamin Brown, Levi Brown and Andrew Brown; three great-grandchildren, Jade, Elizabeth and Eric; three brothers, Dave Brown and wife Dori, Jim Brown and wife Faye and Kevin Brown; one sister, Joyce Waller-Diemont; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Justin Brown; and one brother, Mike Brown.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 6, 2022 at the Ozark Christian Church, south of Monett, with Reverend Randy Martin officiating. Interment will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Monett. Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions have been suggested to Ozark Christian Church in care of the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
