A Memorial Day event was held today at the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts in Pittsburg. Ed Little, Director of Horsemanship Operations at Culver Academies in Indiana, spoke about the academy’s famous Black Horse Troop that has marched in five presidential inaugural parades. A slide show was given, followed by a wreath laying ceremony, and a reading of names of some of the veterans in attendance. The presentation concluded with a rendition of “Stars and Stripes Forever” by The Pittsburg City Band. The event was put on by the Pittsburg Veterans Memorial Program along with the Frontenac American Legion post 43. Pittsburg State’s R.O.T.C. program will hold the event next year.
