Better Business Bureau issues ‘F’ rating for Ozark business

OZARK, Mo. – The Better Business Bureau alerted Missouri residents about a pattern of customer complaints regarding an online retailer based in Ozark, Missouri.

Consumers reported to the BBB that Amara’s Apparel failed to deliver products, did not provide refunds, failed to contact customers, and provided poor customer service.

The BBB says Amara’s Apparel received an “F” rating due to the recent complaints. Customers claim to have spent hundreds of dollars on hand-made children’s clothing, yet they received nothing from the business.

Amara Review

Officials with the BBB say they reached out to the online apparel company, but they did not receive a response. Though the BBB says this is not an outright scam, customers should use caution.

Online tips & tricks

The BBB offers these tips on how to avoid online shopping problems:

  • Research any business and its owners before paying any money. Check the company’s BBB Business Profile at BBB.org or by calling 888-996-3887.
  • Be wary of sales or prices that seem too good to be true. In many of these cases, the items do not exist or are of poor quality.
  • Read all terms and conditions before completing a purchase.
  • Make sure to understand expected delivery dates and refund policies.
  • Know your options in case you receive an item that was not as advertised.
  • Pay by credit card whenever possible in case you need to challenge the payment.
  • Check a site’s security settings. If the site is secure, its URL (web address) should start with “https://.”
