Baxter’s Williamson signs to Neosho CC baseball
Kameron Williamson signs to pitch for the Panthers Thursday.
BAXTER SPRINGS, Kan. – Baxter Springs senior baseball standout Kameron Williamson signed Thursday to pitch for the Neosho CC Panthers.
“As soon as I got to Neosho County, it was a small town just like my hometown. I thought that would be a great fit for me,” Williamson says, “Coach Gilner and coach Murry are great people and they’re very nice and they’re realists, which I like a lot. I’ve heard great things about their program, so that was a big part of it for me. It’s going to make me work very hard to get to the highest level I can, get that starting spot as soon as possible and just make great things come out of the opportunity.”
Williamson does a bit of everything for Baxter Springs baseball.
Last season as a junior, he hit .446 with 7 doubles and drove in 27 runs in 20 games. He was also 4-0 on the mound with a 3.09 ERA.
Now he’ll move on to play for a Neosho program that’s traditionally one of the best in the nation.
“The facilities are great. I went to the indoor and threw a bullpen and it was very nice. Then I went to the clubhouse and they showed me all of their uniforms. They have a lot,” Williamson says with a laugh, “I think it’s 18 uniforms…but yeah, they have very nice facilities. I’m excited for it to be close to home. I have a lot of people who love to support me, and I love that everybody comes to support me and watch my games. That will be nice.”
