The Baxter Springs Long Term Recovery Committee is focusing on the future, and helping residents rebuild and recover.

A community meeting was held Tuesday night, giving residents more information should they still need assistance following the April 27th tornado.

The city is urging homeowners to make sure all lots must be returned to a mowable state. This means all debris and tree stumps must be removed, including all dirt refill of existing holes from tree removal.

If you need volunteers for debris or tree removal, you should contact the city to set up an appointment, or get on the volunteer list.

For those going through the rebuilding process, the city says it’s important to ensure the location of boundary lines through the assistance of a surveyor. This is especially important if you’re rebuilding in a hard hit area where previous boundary lines are no longer viewable.

The LTRC urges all community member with concerns about insurance coverage, or lack thereof, to contact the committee.
