Baxter Springs assault leaves one in hospital
One suspect arrested
Baxter Springs, Kan. — Update: On February 6th around 7:45 p.m., Baxter Springs Police Officers responded to the 400 block of Park Avenue in respones to gun shots in the area and an injured male.
After they arrived, authorities arrested one of the suspects, Charles Applegate, who also had Cherokee County warrants.
Officers say a second suspect left the scene.
EMS took Eric Ashley to Mercy Hospital where he was treated and released for injuries to his head from a blunt object.
Authorities say, following the investigation, they plan to request charges through the Cherokee County District Attorney.
Baxter Springs police are investigating a shooting that left one person in the hospital.
It happened on the 400 block of Parks Street just before 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday night. EMS crews transferred a victim to a Joplin hospital with non-life threatening injuries related to the incident.
A suspect has been taken into custody, and law enforcement are looking for an additional person of interest.
