Autopsy complete, no arrests after fatal stabbing in alleged Joplin home invasion
JOPLIN, Mo. – The Joplin Police Department releases an update after Jonas Bartholomew was fatally stabbed in an alleged home invasion.
Police responded to 829 S. New Hampshire Ave. on Jan. 31, 2020. When they got to the scene, they found a man, later identified as Bartholomew, with a stab wound. Officers applied first aid until a medical team arrived. EMS took him to Mercy Hospital where he later died.
According to investigators, initial reports stat that Bartholomew tried to unlawfully enter his neighbor’s home where he was stabbed and then fled.
Police say no arrests have been made at this time. They are still investigating.
A completed autopsy report confirmed Bartholomew died as a result of a stab wound to the neck.
