Archie L. McElroy, age 87, passed away Monday, October 31, peacefully at his home in Rural Chetopa, after a brief illness.

Archie was born in Rural Craig County, OK on January 2, 1935, and was the son of the late Lena and Ellis McElroy.

He graduated from Labette County Community High School in 1954 with a trade school diploma in mechanics. Afterwards, Archie, along with his parents, relocated to Great Bend, Kansas in 1955, where he worked in the oilfield service industry. After his marriage and birth of his first child, he returned to Bartlett, area where he established his family until his death.

Archie worked at the Bartlett Co-0p from 1959 to 1973, and went on to establish McElroy Sandblasting and Painting Company. He married Sadie JoAnn Strobel, February 9, 1956, in Seward, Kansas. She survives of the home.

He was able to passionately recall events throughout his life and fondly reminisced his associations with lifelong friends and neighbors in the community.

Archie is preceded in death by four children, Judith Renee, James Dale, David Roy and Daniel Ray McElroy.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sadie JoAnn, of the home; five children, Archie L. McElroy Jr, Gayle Ann Vail, William Arthur McElroy, George Ellis McElroy and Mary L. Hayward; sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Father Larry Parker will conduct Mass of Christian Burial, at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at Mother of God Catholic Church, Oswego, Kansas. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. at the church. The holy rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Lake Creek Cemetery, Bartlett, KS.
