Apartments most-likely total loss after fire OPFD state

The cause of the fire is under investigation; 13 people were displaced by the blaze.

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Just before 4 p.m. Friday OPFD and Lenexa Fire crews converged on a structure fire with multiple apartment units in the 8000 block of Farley, The Highlands Apts.

Upon arrival heavy smoke was visible from the two-story wood frame structure. Soon after the flames broke through the roof. 

As one crew began a defensive attack on the fire a second did an interior perimeter search declaring it to be clear of occupants.

The fire was under control in about an hour.

13 people from 7 occupied units were displaced. OPFD state the Red Cross were assisting those in need.

There were no injuries to firefighters or occupants. The cause of the fire continues to be under investigation. OPFD say the building is most likely a total a total loss.
