Anderson woman dies while in custody
NEWTON COUNTY, Mo – The Newton County Sheriff’s office investigates the death of a woman while she was in custody of the McDonald County Deputies.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, officers were called to 44 Hodson Way in Anderson, Missouri for a disturbance with a weapon.
At the scene, authorities found Lynda Beth Meekins with a knife threatening to burn down the house.
Meekins put down the knife, but continued to be combative, biting a deputy in the leg.
Meekins became unresponsive as deputies restrained her by cuffing her legs.
An EMS was called.
According to the Sheriff’s office, the coroner ordered a toxicology report saying the death was a possible overdose.
