JOPLIN, Mo. – For plenty of airsoft action fans August 16th was anything but a lazy Sunday at the old Swimmin’ Hole water park in Joplin.
The water park may be abandoned but it’s still being used by the Joplin First Saturday Ops players who were participating in various types of games and competitions with their airsoft rifles.
The rifles fire small bbs, and safety gear is required to make sure nobody “shoots their eye out.”
One of the organizers says airsoft games are a great way to have fun even during a pandemic.
“It’s so great because you’re not cooped up. We’re out in an open environment. With the whole pandemic going on, it’s a good way to get out of the house and not have to worry about contracting COVID because we are spread out so far. And we have handled that really well because airsofters wear masks anyway,” said organizer Isaac Mason.
