Adopt Kansas: Meet 4 foster children waiting for a loving family
Currently, about 500 Kansas children are in foster care waiting to be adopted. The children are of all ages, races and ethnicities, and from all socioeconomic backgrounds. The majority of waiting children are age 8 or older, part of a sibling group of three or more, or have special needs.
Following are profiles of a few of those children.
Carlie, 10, CH-7647
Watching and listening to JoJo Siwa, the singer, dancer and YouTube personality, is a favorite activity for Carlie! Carlie also enjoys reading, drawing, singing, crafts and swimming. The youngster likes to wear dresses and get her hair done, and she likes to attend church. Carlie recently was recognized for improvements in her behavior, and she serves on a board that helps to make her residence a better place for children. Carlie loves to receive one-on-one attention from adults! She would do best with a family that is consistent and very structured. Carlie could thrive with a family that would meet her where she is and help her to move forward. She would like to have siblings and pets. Cody, 14, CH-7374
Cody is really good at telling knock-knock jokes and making people laugh. People who know him say he is an “absolute joy to be around.” He likes to stay active and enjoys playing basketball and playing games on his Wii. In school Cody loves his math class the most and all that goes with it, such as addition, subtraction and division. Even if the math problems he is working on are considered difficult, he thinks it is fun! When Cody grows up he wants to be a firefighter or a police officer. He wants to be able to help people who are in need. Cody needs a strong and committed family that will devote lots of one-on-one time to him. The family needs to be able to offer him structure, patience and most of all love.
Amiri, 12, CH-7524
Amiri enjoys playing outside, swimming, basketball and riding on his longboard. He enjoys listening to music and playing his guitar. Amiri also loves playing video games. He is a very intelligent boy and does well in school, enjoying “all of the subjects.” Amiri would prefer to be an only child but is open to having one or two siblings. Amiri needs a loving family that will commit to him and give him lots of support and guidance. An active family that likes to have fun would be ideal.
