A veteran’s request for a valentine

A California vet asks strangers to help him complete the final chapters of his personal story

Ret. Maj. Bill White still wears the same dress blues made in the 1950’s when he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.  Among his many medals is the one he is most proud of, the Purple Heart, a badge of honor for surviving the battle of Iwo Jima.  While White’s story is a long one, he says it’s not finished and he wants your help to write it.  White is asking as many people as possible, including complete strangers, to send him a Valentine’s card.  The reason?  White says the cards will be part of his long personal story whose final chapters are yet to be written.
