Severe Outlook for September 16th

With increasing Gulf moisture sneaking in from the south today, there could be a random t-storm or two with our partly sunny skies for the afternoon. If we had any t-storms develop this afternoon, it wouldn’t be severe. Any severe weather chances in the Lower 48 today will be confined to the Carolinas and as far north as the state of Virginia. Even though Tropical Storm Florence will continue to weaken today, the rotation on the northeastern and eastern side of the system could bring enough rotation for isolated tornadoes today. On top of that, Florence will continue to bring additional heavy rain to the Carolinas and Virginia. That means additional flooding concerns will remain possible until Florence starts lifting away early this week.
