A missing Chelsea, Oklahoma man found drowned in the Verdigris River

NOWATA COUNTY, Okla. – An 83-year-old Chelsea, Oklahoma man drowns in the Verdigris river in Nowata County.

According to Oklahoma Highway Patrol, 83-year-old Ronald Baker of Chelsea, Oklahoma drowned on the 22nd of May at an unknown time, approximately .4 miles downstream from Big Creek on the Verdigris River.

Highway Patrol received a call about and overdue boater around 8:00 P.M. on the 22nd of May.  The truck and boat trailer belonging to the Baker were found at the boat ramp in Big Creek at the upper end of Oolagah Lake.

Baker was believed to have gone fishing in the Verdigris river.

A search was conducted the night of the 22nd, but rescuers didn’t find Baker.

Search efforts continued until the 26th when the victim was found at 8:15 A.M.
