5th annual Buckles, Barrels, BBQ Fundraiser brings in biggest turn out yet

Organizers say the weekend event was successful and they are excited for next year.

CARTHAGE, Mo. – The 5th annual Buckles Barrels and BBQ fundraiser saw its largest turn out yet in support of ‘On My Own’ incorporated.

‘On My Own’ is a non profit independent living center in Nevada, Missouri, helping people with disabilities stay in their own homes.

The 3 day event took place at the Lucky J Steakhouse and Arena, bringing in around 300 to 350 barrel racers each day.

Competitions ranged from youth to senior races, with prizes and awards to be won.

Organizers say the weekend event was successful and they are excited for next year.

“Watching our organization grow, watching this race grow, being able to be here at Lucky J,working with Matt and his crew, they’re amazing, being able to be a three day race is a blessing and we really appreciate that” said Executive Director of On My Own, Jennifer Gundy.

The fundraiser helps pay for ramps and adaptive equipment.

Next years event will take place August 6th through 8th.

“Knocking on wood this COVID stuff is done by 2021, but even if not that is not gonna stop us from doing what we’re here to do and that’s putting on a great race for a great cause” said Seth Roy, the Announcer for the Fundraiser.
