4th of July celebrations are back on for 2021

Several fireworks shows and events are back for 2021! KOAM has found a few happening around the 4-States and will continue adding to the list as organizers release information. If you would like to add your City’s event to the list, email sstrader@koamtv.com.

Missouri

  • Joplin

    • Joplin Independence Day Celebration – this year’s event will be a fireworks-only show
      • Sunday, July 4, fireworks start at 9:45 p.m. and will be set off on the eastern side of the Missouri Southern State University campus
      • Organizers are encouraging the same set up as drive-in movies: If you are outside the vehicle, you need to be located in front to ensure social distancing from other vehicles.
      • Tune into our radio station, 88.7KXMS for a curated music experience that can be played from your vehicle.

  • Southwest City

    • The City of Southwest City is planning on having their annual fireworks display on Saturday July 3, 2021. Chicken dinners will be available starting at 5:00pm and free watermelon to follow. The Ball Program concession stand will be open at 11:00 am with assorted foods including specials of taco salad, chicken strip baskets and loaded baked potatoes. Vendors will be located across the street on the east side of Main Street. Music performances will be held throughout the day.

    • Fourth of July Community Day in Municipal Park – We are excited to announce Community Day at Municipal Park July 4th! We are opening the park with FREE swim from 2pm-8pm, FREE rides at Kiddie Land from 2pm-6pm, and FREE skate from 6pm-8pm. We also will have 20+ Inflatables, a dozen food trucks, and live music!     • 4th of July Celebration 5K Run, 620-429-2678
      • A scenic 5K run through Columbus on a certified 5K course. The run begins and ends at the City Park. Registration begins at 6:00 AM July 4th and Opening Ceremonies begins at 7:00 AM. We will have the local Girl Scout Troop perform a Color Guard and post the colors, followed by a member of the Columbus Unified High School Band playing the national anthem.

      • Got fireworks? Got fun? Yes we do! Saturday July 3rd at Chanute Elks Lake we will be hosting a Family Funday with our annual Fireworks display at night (approx 9 PM). >>>>>OPEN to the PUBLIC<<<<< Car show starts at 7 AM hosted by Elks Riders. All other activities start at 2:00 PM. Cost is free, donations are accepted.
      • Many kids activities, hay rack rides around the lake, dunk tank, adult games, onsite DJ and band. We will also have some Food Trucks onsite for items to purchase (who doesn’t want a a funnel cake?). Stay tuned for more details to follow we don’t want to give it all away yet😊.

    • Celebrate the anniversary of American independence with the sounds of cannon fire while honoring the service men and women who have defended the United States for the past 245 years. Fort Scott National Historic Site will accept the donation of the Lunette Blair building and land in a public ceremony/photo-op on the site in Skubitz Plaza, Saturday, July 3, at 11am.
    • Saturday and Sunday, July 3 and 4, 2021, Fort Scott National Historic Site will have artillery demonstrations, tours, programs, and living history activities throughout the day. On Monday, July 5, 2021, festivities continue with tours, programs, and living history.

    • Miami Regional Chamber of Commerce: Are you ready for some Fireworks?? July 4th is just around the corner and our partners have a fun evening planned for family, friends and visitors. Join us at Buffalo Run Casino for the celebration! Children activities will take place between 5-7 p.m., including camel and pony rides, tractor train ride, face painting, balloon art, photo booth and wet & dry inflatables. Between 5-7 p.m., the Miami Regional Chamber will be providing free hot dogs and The Frozen Elephant will giveaway free snow cones compliments of Buffalo Run Casino. Live entertainment will begin at 6 p.m. followed by the Fireworks Extravaganza at approximately 9:20 p.m. We hope to see you there!
