4-Staters look for deals at the Joplin City Auction
JOPLIN, Mo. — Joplinites and visiting 4-Staters bid on a variety of items at the annual Joplin City Auction Saturday morning.
The bidding wars began with the bicycles. The auction had everything from bikes, computers, and storage containers to mowers, cars, and trucks.
More than 10 different departments within the city contributed the items to the event. Officials expected several hundred people to be in and out of the auction throughout the day.
“We have to replace fleet vehicles every year, so this is a good way for us to go ahead and auction off those items, and some people in town want to buy vehicles that are out here. Same thing with the bicycles,” said Lynden Lawson with Public Works.
The proceeds raised from the auction will go back into the different city departments that donated the items.
