300 swimmers participate in the Tri-State B Championship
two-day swim meet held at the PSU aquatic center
PITTSBURG, Kan. — 300 swimmers competed in the Tri-State B Championship swim meet at Pittsburg State aquatic center.
Saturday was day one of the two-day meet hosted by the Pittsburg YMCA in part with PSU.
Swimmers will take part in about 1250 events over the two days.
Participates from all over the 4-States ranged from ages 4-18.
Both the Pittsburg YMCA and Pitt State are excited to hold such a high-level competition.
“Hosting the B championship is something that we compete for every year and are always hopeful to get. To bring this many talented kids in our area and be able to set up this meet and watch them grow each time is a pretty awesome deal,” says former YMCA swim board member Timothy Stebbins.
“Pittsburg State University is excited to have such a large event here on campus. We do have 300 swimmers who are in the water today. A lot of them are coming elsewhere in the 4-state region which we are excited to draw those people in to Pittsburg State University,” adds PSU Aquatics Coordinator Nathan Brungardt.
The swim meet will wrap up Sunday.
