Returning students at MSSU are bringing the campus back to life as many move in and a select few join the ranks of the Yours-to-Lose program.

The fast-track medical program is a partnership between Southern and the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences.

These new students will attend the KCU Joplin Medical School at the same time they are accepted to MSSU.

Eight new members were given their green medical coats during the morning ceremony and university representatives say this kind of program is good for Joplin.

“To supply the need for doctors in rural areas is something we feel very strongly about and KCU does too. So we’ve put together a program to address that problem,” said Missouri Southern State University President, Dr. Alan Marble.

“I know it’s definitely gonna be hard and while that can be kind of scary, I’m up for it, I’m ready for it. This is, I know this is what I want to do. So I’m just ready to get started,” said Chloe Maye, one of the recently accepted Yours-To-Lose students.
