2011 weather disasters cost state of Missouri about $36 million

The total cost from 2011 weather disasters in Missouri, including the Joplin tornado, has been calculated.

Figures from Governor Jay Nixon’s budget office show the state’s cost for the disasters is a little more than $36 million dollars.

That’s only about 1/4 of the $150 million Nixon set aside for 2011 disaster aide.

Nixon’s budget director says the rest of the money got rolled into the general revenue pool.
