2 arrested on warrants, drug charges in Joplin
JOPLIN, Mo. – Joplin police arrest two Kansas residents on active warrants and drug charges.
On Wednesday, July 22, 2020, Joplin Police Department detectives were following up on an investigation at the Home 2 Suites hotel at 3000 S. Rangeline Road. They found Morgan L. Wilkins, 26, of Parsons, Kansas, in a black 2019 Nissan Altima in the parking lot.
Police had an active warrant to arrest Wilkins. After they arrested her, authorities found 84 grams of methamphetamine in possession, along with a black 9mm handgun and more than $3,000 in cash.
The Joplin Police Department states Wilkins was also on probation for a previous conviction of Possession of a Controlled Substance from another state.
Detectives also found another vehicle on the parking lot with Tremanyne M. Darkis, 41, from Columbus, Kansas. Police say he’s an acquaintance of Wilkins.
Darkis had a felony warrant out of Placer County, California for Possession of a Controlled Substance for Sale, Transport or Sell of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Ammo by a felon.
Investigators found Darkis with several bags of marijuana that were packaged for distribution, according to the Police Department. Authorities say he also had over $3,000 in cash and other items of drug possession.
Police took Wilkins to the Joplin City Jail on her active warrant and requested charges of Trafficking Drugs in the 2nd Degree and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. Her bond was set at $10,000 cash only.
Darkis is in the Joplin City Jail on his active warrant and requested charges of Trafficking Drugs in the 2nd Degree, Delivery of Marijuana and charges of being a Fugitive from another state. His bond was also set at $10,000 cash only.
