The Jasper County Prosecutor’s Office has filed charges against Vincent A. Kimmel, 60, of three counts of first degree assault, three counts of armed criminal action and one count of first degree burglary.

Authorities arrest a suspect in an overnight assault that left three Carthage residents hospitalized.

On March 24th, 2019, shortly before 10:00 pm, the Carthage Police Department got a 911 call with unknown trouble. An officer arrived to the 800 block of W. Chestnut and found a person a short distance from the incident with blood on him. The officer detained him.

Police then received additional 911 calls that people had been stabbed. Authorities say three victims sustained stab wounds.

Sloan Roberts, 37, is in critical condition at a Springfield hospital.

Jarred Bruner, 32, and Whitney Dipley, 32, are in stable condition.

The 60-year-old suspect, who had been detained, was arrested and is being held pending charges.

According to Chief Greg Dagnan, authorities don’t believe it’s a random act. He says the suspect and victims know each other. Police believe there was an argument over money, but with the victims not yet able to speak with authorities, they are still trying to determine what happened.

It’s KOAM’s policy to not release the suspect’s name until charges have been filed in court.
